Why Explore Hakkari Flora and Fauna?

What Does Botanical Research Tell Us?
In March 2024, Hakkari University reported results from fieldwork carried out between 2020 and 2023. The researcher collected 3,200 plant specimens and reported 500 additions to the province's recorded flora, bringing the reported total above 1,600.
These were
additional records for Hakkari, not 500 species newly discovered by science. The figures describe the research reported at that time rather than a final, unchanging inventory. The

Nehil Wetland: Another Side of Hakkari
A study based on observations from April 2011 to April 2012 recorded
123 bird species and one subspecies in and around Yüksekova's Nehil wetland. The records included resident birds, seasonal visitors and passage migrants.
The published study provides the survey context.
This is evidence from a particular survey, not a checklist of birds that every visitor will see today. However, the study shows why wetlands deserve attention alongside Hakkari's better-known mountain scenery.
Wildlife Beyond the Largest Animals
Birds, insects and small organisms can make a nature outing rewarding even when larger animals remain unseen. Hakkari University has also developed research on the regional distribution and breeding ecology of the
chukar partridge. Its

Observe animals from a distance and avoid disturbing nests. In addition, allow animal behaviour to guide your pace. A nature itinerary should not promise encounters with elusive wildlife.
