Summer (June–September) is the ideal season for the “Mount Ararat Summit Expedition”. During these months, weather conditions are generally stable and suitable for high-altitude trekking. While temperatures can vary significantly between day and night — especially near the summit — summer provides the safest and most comfortable window for climbing. Clear skies and manageable conditions allow for an enjoyable and well-planned ascent.

This is a draft but a common Ararat program that can be easily tailored based on your preferences and your fitness level. But we generally make you join in a group if there is availability. For a tailored or private group organisations please share your proposed number of days, proposed dates, number of participants, fitness level etc.
Day 1 – Arrival in Iğdır, Salt Cave Visit & Transfer to Doğubayazıt
Our journey begins with a morning flight from Istanbul, meeting at Iğdır Airport at 08:45. After a warm welcome, we visit the famous Salt Cave of Tuzluca, known for its impressive natural formations and reputed health benefits. Following lunch at a local restaurant, we drive to Doğubayazıt, the gateway to Mount Ararat expeditions. After checking into our hotel at 1,600 meters, we hold a detailed climbing briefing with our guides. In the evening, we explore the easternmost town of Turkey, stroll through Doğubayazıt’s streets, enjoy tea at a local café, and prepare for the adventure ahead.
Day 2 – Trek to Mount Ararat Base Camp
Altitude: 2200 m → 3300 m
Distance: 7 km
Habitat: Steppe
Average temperature (summer): +25 / +30 °C
After breakfast, we transfer to Çevirme Village at the foothills of Mount Ararat. Our trek begins at 2,200 meters. Main equipment is transported by horses, while we hike with light backpacks. Surrounded by wide steppe landscapes, we reach Base Camp at 3,300 meters after approximately 4–5 hours. After lunch, we settle into our tents and begin acclimatization. A warm dinner awaits us at camp. Throughout the program, camps provide toilet facilities, drinking water, and basic shower opportunities.
You only need to bring your personal belongings and sleeping bag (recommended for hygiene, rental available on request).
Day 3 – Acclimatization Hike to Camp 2
Altitude: 3300 m → 4200 m (round trip)
Distance: 13 km
Habitat: Steppe
Average temperature: +20 / +25 °C
Today is dedicated to acclimatization. After breakfast, we hike towards Camp 2 at 4,200 meters with water and packed lunch. We move at a steady, controlled pace with long breaks to allow our bodies to adjust to the altitude. After a short rest at Camp 2, we descend back to Base Camp. The afternoon is free for rest and recovery before dinner. Overnight in tents at Base Camp.
Day 4 – Base Camp to High Camp
Altitude: 3300 m → 4200 m
Distance: 6.5 km
Habitat: Steppe
Average temperature: +15 / +20 °C
After breakfast, we pack up Base Camp and begin our ascent to High Camp at 4,200 meters. Once there, we set up tents and organize camp. After tea and light snacks, we spend the rest of the day resting to prepare for summit night. Recovery and hydration are essential. After dinner, we retire early to gather strength for the summit climb.
Day 5 – Mount Ararat Summit Day
Altitude: 4200 m → 5137 m (summit) → 3300 m
Distance: 13–14 km total
Habitat: Alpine tundra
Temperature: +30°C to -20°C (extreme variation possible)
Shortly after midnight, we wake for summit day. After a light breakfast and final equipment check, we begin our ascent under the stars. Step by step, we climb toward Turkey’s highest point — 5,137 meters. After 6–7 hours, we reach the summit and celebrate with photos and unforgettable views. We descend to Camp 2 for a warm meal and short rest before continuing down to Base Camp, completing a challenging and extraordinary day.
Day 6 – Descent & Cultural Tour
Altitude: 3300 m → 2200 m
Distance: 7 km
Habitat: Steppe
Average temperature: +25 / +30 °C
After breakfast, we descend to Çevirme Village and transfer back to our hotel in Doğubayazıt. Following showers and lunch, we begin a half-day cultural tour including Ishak Pasha Palace, the Tomb of Ahmed-i Hani, the Urartian Fortress, and the Meteor Crater. In the evening, we celebrate our summit success with a special farewell dinner.
Day 7 – Transfer to Iğdır Airport
After breakfast, we transfer to Iğdır Airport according to flight times. After a week of adventure, nature, culture, endurance, and teamwork, we return home with unforgettable memories. Reaching the summit of Mount Ararat, the friendships formed, and the shared experience will remain a lifelong achievement.
Participation Limitations: To ensure a comfortable and efficient experience, the number of participants is limited. Please consider this when planning your trip.
Pre-Booking Options: Pre-booking is available for participants arriving before or after the program dates to help with accommodation and logistics.
Arrival and Departure Information: We recommend sharing your arrival and departure details (dates and times) with our team in advance. This information is necessary to arrange transfers to the city center or airport.
Optional Transfers: For participants who wish to stop the program at a certain point during the day, optional transfers can be arranged at a suitable location. Please note that this incurs an additional cost to be covered by the participant.
Clothing and Equipment: A detailed list of mandatory and optional clothing and equipment will be provided separately before the program.
Health Conditions: Participants with allergies or chronic conditions are required to inform our team during registration to ensure proper precautions are taken. This activity is not recommended for individuals with conditions such as high blood pressure, asthma, rheumatism, or epilepsy, as it may be difficult to manage emergencies in nature. Please consult with our team in advance if you have concerns.
Route and Weather Conditions: Mandatory route changes may occur due to weather conditions, such as heavy rain, strong winds, or storms. Final decisions will be made by the guide, and participants are expected to comply with these changes, including modifications to boat tours.
Cancellation and Refund Policy: Due to the limited availability of accommodations in local and remote areas. Many of the lodgings we work with are small, family-run businesses with only a few rooms, making it difficult to cancel or rebook. To secure your spot, a deposit is required at the time of booking. This deposit is non-refundable, except in cases of force majeure. However, if the program is cancelled by us, the full pre-payment will be refunded.
