The Leleg Trail, also known as the Leleg Way, is a network of walking routes across the Bodrum Peninsula. It connects landscapes associated with ancient Lelegian settlements with old paths, forests, rural areas and archaeological sites.

Rather than being a single coastal path, the network reaches into the hills and interior of the peninsula. This makes it possible to experience a side of Bodrum that many visitors never see.

Pedasa is one of the most important archaeological landscapes associated with the Lelegian presence on the Bodrum Peninsula. The ancient settlement occupies elevated terrain north of central Bodrum and preserves fortifications, tombs and other archaeological traces.

Approaching the area on foot also helps explain the relationship between settlement, defensive positions and the geography of the peninsula.

Later, Halicarnassus became one of the major cities of Caria and the capital associated with the Hecatomnid dynasty. The Mausoleum at Halicarnassus, built for Mausolus in the 4th century BCE, became one of the best-known monuments of the ancient Mediterranean.

Some guided Leleg Trail programmes operate with a limited number of participants. Guide availability, accommodation and transport capacity may also affect the final group size and programme structure.

For private, self-guided and tailor-made journeys, availability depends on the services included in your individual itinerary.

Arrival, Departure & Additional Accommodation

If you arrive in Bodrum before the walking programme begins or stay longer after it ends, we can discuss additional accommodation and transfers as part of your travel arrangements.

Please send us your arrival and departure dates, times and transport details when available. We can then determine the most practical connections between the airport, your accommodation and the start or finish of your walking programme.

Transfers & Route Access

Main transfers included in your programme will be clearly listed in your proposal. Additional transfers requested outside the agreed itinerary may be arranged where vehicle and road access allow and will normally involve an additional cost.

Not every section of the Leleg Trail is directly accessible by vehicle. If you decide to stop walking during a stage, an immediate pick-up from your exact location may therefore not be possible. Where necessary, you may need to continue to an agreed or accessible meeting point.

Walking Terrain

The Leleg Trail is not a uniform walking route. Depending on the section, you may encounter rocky paths, forest tracks, old stone routes, uneven archaeological terrain, exposed hills and sustained ascents or descents.

Distances and difficulty vary between individual stages. Please consider the route information provided for your programme rather than assuming that every Leleg Trail walk has the same level of difficulty.

Sun, Heat & Water

The Bodrum Peninsula has many exposed walking sections with limited shade. Sun and heat can therefore become important factors, particularly outside the cooler months and during longer walking days.

Carry sufficient water for the planned stage and use appropriate sun protection. Water should not be assumed to be available at regular intervals along every route.

During periods of unusually high temperatures, a walking stage may need to start earlier, be shortened, changed or postponed.

Clothing & Equipment

Good trekking or walking shoes suitable for rocky and uneven terrain are essential. A comfortable daypack, sufficient water capacity, sun protection and weather-appropriate clothing should also be carried.

Additional equipment recommendations can be provided according to your itinerary, season and expected walking conditions.

Health & Fitness

Participants should consider the walking distance, elevation, terrain, temperature and remoteness of the selected stages before booking. Some routes pass through areas where road access is limited and assistance or transport may take longer to reach you than it would in an urban environment.

Archaeological Sites & Historical Remains

Some Leleg Trail routes pass through or close to archaeological landscapes. Paths around ruins, ancient walls, tombs and other remains may be rocky, uneven or unprotected.

Please respect archaeological remains and local regulations. Do not climb on, move or remove stones or archaeological material, and follow any access restrictions or instructions in protected areas.

Entrance conditions, opening hours and access to individual archaeological sites may change independently of the walking route.

Route, Weather & Local Conditions

Weather, trail conditions, temporary access restrictions, forest regulations, archaeological site access, road conditions or other safety considerations may require changes to the planned itinerary.

Heavy rain, strong winds, storms and unusually high temperatures can also affect individual walking stages.

For guided programmes, the guide may adjust or stop a walking stage when necessary for safety or practical reasons. For self-guided programmes, we may provide alternative route or logistical information when conditions known to us require a change.

Guided & Self-Guided Programmes

Guided programmes are accompanied by a professional licensed guide according to the confirmed itinerary.

Self-guided programmes are designed for independent walkers. Depending on the programme purchased, you may receive GPX tracks, navigation information, route notes and logistical arrangements. You remain responsible for following the route, monitoring local conditions and making appropriate decisions while walking independently.

Accommodation & Programme Changes

Accommodation is selected according to the walking route, availability and the services included in your programme. Where a particular property becomes unavailable, we may need to use a suitable alternative that works with the required route and transfers.

Any significant change affecting your confirmed programme will be communicated where reasonably possible.

Cancellation, Deposit & Refund Policy

A deposit may be required to confirm accommodation, guiding, transfers and other services included in your programme. The amount, payment schedule and applicable cancellation conditions will be stated in your confirmed booking conditions.

Where your confirmed booking conditions specify that a deposit is non-refundable, it will remain non-refundable except in cases of force majeure or where otherwise stated in those conditions. If we cancel a confirmed programme and cannot provide the agreed service, the applicable pre-payment for that programme will be refunded.
